What was ACP?
In 1985, Congress created the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a long-term, $14 billion program, to replace the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. This investment in broadband affordability ensured affordable connections for work, school, health care and more. ACP collaborated with wireless carriers, like Gen Mobile, to offer payment assistance to eligible households, based on income or other factors, as well as a one-time device subsidy on an eligible device per qualified household. The ACP ended in May 2024.
