Hearing Aid Compatibility
Some people who use hearing aid devices may find it a challenge to use a wireless phone. Advocates in the wireless industry and consumer groups have been working for years to develop standards and solutions to reduce difficulties that the hard-of-hearing can face. In addition, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has set requirements for wireless carriers and wireless device manufacturers. There are now a large number of hearing-aid compatible (HAC) devices available.
Device Compatibility Ratings
Each device is tested for hearing aid compatibility under one of two standards: the 2011 ANSI Standard, or the newer 2019 ANSI Standard. Here is how to understand each:
The 2011 ANSI Standard:
This device has been tested and rated for use with hearing aids, specifically for certain wireless technologies it utilizes. However, there may be newer wireless technologies incorporated into this device that have not yet been tested for compatibility with hearing aids. It is crucial to test the device's various features thoroughly in different environments while using a hearing aid or cochlear implant to identify any potential interference.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has established Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) rules for digital wireless phones. These rules require that devices be tested and rated according to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C63.19-2011 hearing aid compatibility standards (the “ANSI 2011 Standard”).

- If your phone falls under the ANSI 2011 Standard, it will be rated as either M3, M4 (for microphone compatibility) or T3, T4 (for telecoil compatibility). Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are less likely to cause interference with hearing aids than phones that are not labeled. The M4 rating is the higher of the two ratings for microphone compatibility. T3 or T4 ratings indicate the phone will cause less interference with telecoil use, with T4 being the better of the two for telecoil compatibility.

Please check the box and/or phone label for information about the HAC level rating for your phone. This phone has been tested and rated for use with hearing aids for some of its wireless technologies. However, there may be newer technologies within the device that have not been tested yet for compatibility with hearing aids. As a result, it is recommended to try out various features of the device in different locations with your hearing aid or cochlear implant to determine if you experience any interference.
Consult the manufacturer for more information about the hearing aid compatibility of this phone. For any questions regarding return or exchange policies, please contact your service provider or phone retailer.
The 2019 ANSI Standard:
On July 10, 2003, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Report and Order in WT Docket 01- 309 modified the exception of wireless phones under the Hearing Aid Compatibility Act of 1988 (HAC Act) to require digital wireless phones to be compatible with hearing aids. The HAC Act intends to ensure reasonable access to telecommunications services for persons with hearing disabilities. While some wireless phones are used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear implants), users may detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. The wireless telephone industry has developed a rating system for wireless phones, to assist hearing device users to find phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices. This phone has been tested and certified for use with hearing aids for some of the wireless technologies that it uses. However, there may be some newer wireless technologies used in this phone that have not been tested yet for use with hearing aids. It is important to try the different features of this phone thoroughly and in different locations, using your hearing aid or cochlear implant, to determine if you hear any interfering noise. Consult your service provider or the manufacturer of this phone for information on hearing aid compatibility. If you have questions about return or exchange policies, consult your service provider or phone retailer. The FCC has adopted HAC rules for digital wireless phones. These rules require certain devices to be tested and rated under the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) C63.19-2019 hearing aid compatibility standards (the ANSI 2019 Standard). Devices tested to this version of the standard, unlike previous versions, do not receive an HAC performance rating level; they are either hearing-aid compatible, or not. This phone was tested under the 2019 ANSI Standard, and is hearing-aid compatible. In addition, in this version of the standard, the conversational gain of the device is tested, both with and without hearing aids. Please make sure to check the box and/or phone label for information about the conversational gain force with and without a hearing aid if it was tested under the ANSI 2019 Standard.
